Before you shop
Start with the residence hall’s current rules and the room’s actual measurements. Confirm the bed size, permitted wall treatments, rules for risers and appliances, and whether furniture may be moved. Coordinate with a roommate before buying duplicates.
A simple room-by-room plan
- Sleep: Confirm Twin XL dimensions, sheet depth, and any fire-safety requirements before choosing a topper.
- Study: Protect working space first; add only storage that leaves room for a laptop, lamp, and comfortable posture.
- Bathroom: Choose a caddy that drains and dries where it will actually be stored.
- Storage: Measure under-bed clearance and the path from the building entrance to the room.
- Walls: Test removable materials in a hidden area and follow move-out rules.
This checklist is based on common dorm-room constraints, not one school’s policy. Verify the current rules with the housing office before ordering.
